Police arrest accused for extorting money in Sopore
Srinagar: Police in Sopore have registered a case against an accused identified as Shahzad Ahmad Dar, son of Late Mohammad Ramzan Dar, resident of Dangerpora Sopore, for extorting money from a local resident by falsely claiming close links with Police and offering undue help in a pending matter, a police spokesman said Saturday.
The accused reportedly threatened the victim and took ₹95,000 on false assurances of resolving a police-related issue. He has been arrested and accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 134/2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation is in progress, the spokesman added.
