Police foil bovine theft attempt in Handwara, one held
Srinagar: Police in Handwara apprehended an individual involved in bovine theft at Mawer Crossing, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that a police team while conducting night patrolling duty, intercepted a suspicious person leading a group of bovines near Mawer Crossing. Upon noticing the police party presence, the suspect attempted to flee, but the police team swiftly responded, effectively apprehending him on the spot. He has been identified as Mohammad Ismaiel Badana, son of Gulam ud Din, a resident of Lahikote Monabal. Further investigation revealed that Mohammad Ismaiel Badana had stolen the bovines from the Puthwari Nowgam area and was attempting to transport them illegally towards Qalamabad for sale, the spokesman added.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 20/2025 has been registered under Section 303(2) BNS at Police Station Qalamabad and further investigation is underway.
