Police arrests two drug peddlers in North Kashmir

Srinagar: Police arrested two drug peddlers in Kupwara and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Friday.

He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Main Road Tikker near Radio Station Kupwara, arrested a drug peddler identified as Shahzad Ahmad Shiekh son of Bashir Ahmad Shiekh resident of Kupwara. During search, a substantial amount of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the accused was engaged in illicit drug trafficking for petty monetary gains.

Meanwhile in Sopore, a Police team arrested a drug peddler at Chankan Sopore, checkpoint. He has been identified as Zubair Ahmad Fafu son of Abdul Rasheed Fafu, resident of Nowhaman Sopore. During search, 12 strips (96 capsules) of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus, a banned psychotropic substance, were recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, cases have been registered under relevant sections of law at respective Police Stations and investigations have been initiated, the spokesman added.
