Police solves theft case within 12 hours in Awantipora, three held

Srinagar: Police in Awantipora solved a theft case within 12 hours by arresting three accused persons involved in the crime and recovered stolen vehicle from their possession, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
He said that police received a complaint that on 20th May 2025, some unknown thieves have stolen a vehicle (Auto Rickshaw) which was parked outside the house of the complainant at Ghat Tokina. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 116/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Awantipora and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, a Police team taking assistance of modern techniques including collection of CCTV footages of various locations learnt about the involvement of three accused persons identified as Aakhir Ahmad Wani son of Fayaz Ahmad Wani resident of Tengpora Tokuna, Setha Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Akbar Dar resident of Renzipora and Adnan Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Altaf Bhat resident of Renzipora.
Subsequently, a special checkpoint was established and all the accused persons were arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody. Stolen vehicle (Auto Rikshaw) bearing registration number JK04D-1894 was also recovered from their possession, the spokesman added.
