Golf Development Authority will be revived if required: Govt informs LA

Jammu, Mar 12: The Government on Wednesday informed the House that the Jammu and Kashmir Golf Development and Management Authority (JKGDMA), established in 2013, was rendered defunct after the implementation of J&K Reorganization (Adaptation of State Laws) Order, 2020.
The government did not rule out the possibility of reviving the authority in future if required.
While responding to a query by MLA Gulmarg Farooq Ahmad Shah, the Minister-in-Charge of the Tourism Department, acknowledged that the JKGDMA was established under S.O. 533 on December 31, 2013.
However, the repeal of the JKGDMA Act (Act No. VIII of 2013) on March 31, 2020, through an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Department of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Affairs, led to its dissolution.
The government response clarified that while the Golf Development Authority does not currently exist, the department remains open to considering its reconstitution if the need arises in the future. (KNO)
