Police arrests four drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police arrested four drug peddles in Shopian, Kulgam and Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that in Shopian, a police party at a checkpoint established at Nagesharan crossing intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK02C-8316. During checking, contraband substance like Charas powder was recovered from the first-aid tool kit of the motorcycle. The pillion riders disclosed their identities as Mohammad Lateef Malik son of Mohammad Yousuf resident of Bongam, Shopian and Tauseef Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad Wagey resident of New Colony, Largam.
In Kulam, a police team at a checkpoint established at Khudwani Byepass, intercepted a suspicious person. After search, 2.5 kilograms of Cannabis Husk like substance filled in the bag was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mohammad Amin Bhat son of Mohammad Abdullah Bhat resident of Shamsipora, Bijbhara, the spokesman said.
Similarly in Budgam, a police party at a checkpoint established a Rankipora, Beerwa intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the Police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Mohammad Saleem Shah son of Mushtaq Ahmad Shah resident of Pati Sail Beerwah.
All the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
