Illegal extraction of minerals: Police arrests six persons, seizes Boat in Awantipora
Srinagar: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have arrested six persons and seized a boat in Pampore area of Awantipora, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that a police party seized one boat being used for illegal extraction and transportation of sand from river Jhelum at Pampore and arrested six persons involved in the commission of crime.
They have been identified as Ishfaq Hussain Ganie son of Ali Mohammad, Rizwan Ali Ganie son of Mohammad Ibraheem, Rouf Hussain Matto son of Ghulam Mohammad, Tahir Hussain Ganie son of Altaf Hussain, Aijaz Hussain Khan son of Gazanfar Ali and Waheed Hussain son of Mohammad Akbar Kutho, all residents of Shalina Budgam.
Accordingly, case vide FIR No. 13/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
