Saimoh Tral residents seek availability of safe potable water

Pulwama:The residents of Saimoh in Tral hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district alleged that they are facing shortage of potable water as authorities have been supplying them with contaminated water.
They said that the pipelines laid in their village are full of leakages due to which dirt and sewage is entering these pipes and people are facing health issues.
Javid Ahmad, a local resident said that in absence of potable water, they are forced to drink spring water that too is contaminated due to which people, mainly elderly and children, often fall ill.
He said that recently in Srinagar water of most of the springs was found unsafe and same is the case here but people have no option other than to use it.
Shakeel Ahmad, another local resident said that on the one hand the government is putting emphasis on cleanliness but on the other hand we are being forced to consume contaminated water.
He said that authorities are risking the lives of the people by forcing them to drink contaminated water.
Locals said that many people in the village have fallen ill due to the contaminated water.
They demanded that concerned authorities had deputed employees to check out the snag but they have been casually doing their work and taking the matter seriously.
The locals have requested the officials to look into the matter at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief
