Police arrests six gamblers in Awantipora, stake money seized
Srinagar: Police in Awantipora arrested six gamblers and seized stake money from their possession, a police spokesman said Friday.
He said that acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities at Bahu Awantipora, a police team raided the specific spot and arrested the six gamblers. They have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Abdul Hameed Khan, Mohammad Afzal Sheikh, Wazarqt Ahmad Dhobi, Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Bahu Awantipora.
Officers have seized stake money of ₹500/- and playing cards from their possession, the spokesman added.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 21/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated, he said.
