Gold medallist in ‘Yogasna’, martial arts gets selected for 38th national games

Srinagar: In a remarkable achievement, a six-time gold medallist from the Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been selected for 38th National games 2025.
The selection of Firdoos Ahmad Lone a resident of Shahpora Tral highlights the immense potential and talent present in the youth of Kashmir.
Firdoos said that he was interested in sports since his childhood and used to take part in games since school days.
He said that recently he took part in an event of Yogasana at Karnataka where he managed to get a place in the top ten players of the event and eventually he got selected in the 38th national games 2025.
He said that he has won so far six gold medals in different events of martial arts and Yogasana in the last few years and his aim is to reach the Olympics.
“I am hopeful that I will be able to perform well and prove my mettle wherever I will get an opportunity,” he said, adding that he is the first senior national player of district Pulwama in Yogasana.
He thanked sports council J&K, his parents, coach and his friends for their support in his journey.
He said that the youth of J&K are very talented but they lack proper support and training.
“If the youth of Jammu and Kashmir will be supported properly, they can do wonders in any field,” he said.
“Kashmiri youth are immensely talented and can achieve great heights if provided with the proper support and opportunities,” said Lone. He emphasized the importance of encouraging sports and other activities to channelize the energy of young people constructively.
Firdous said that youth must engage themselves in sports activities so as to stay away from addiction and other anti-social activities.
