Locals demand the attention of CM, local MLA

Pulwama: Huts constructed by tourism department in Shikargah area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama have been left abandoned and there is no one to take care of them, locals alleged Friday.
The residents of Tral and its adjacent areas said that they were happy that government has constructed huts that will help in bringing Shikargah on the tourism map but the situation on ground is different.
They said that the construction work on these huts was completed way back but they have been left abandoned with not making any use of the raised infrastructure.
Amandeep Singh, a local resident said that there is no one to take care of these huts and even before these could have been put to use to house tourists and visitors, the huts have witnessed neglect and downgrade.
He said that the government should have kept someone to take care of the huts so that they can be put in use in the upcoming tourist season.
Mansoor Ahmed, another local said that if the government has spent crores of rupees for the construction of these huts, they should have hired few people so that these huts would be maintained and safeguarded.
He said that with the promotion of tourism in the area, the employment opportunities would be generated for locals but leaving huts like this will damage them before putting them in use.
Locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
They have sought the attention of CM Omar Abdullah and MLA Tral Rafiq Ahmad Naik in this regard.
