Frozen pipes triggers shortage of water in several villages of Pulwama
Tanker services deployed in area till piped water will be restored: MLA Rajpora
Pulwama: The residents of different areas of Kandi hamlet in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have been suffering in the absence of potable water.
Locals from Sangervani, Abhama, Sonebajar and its adjacent areas in Rajpora Tehsil of Pulwama said that they have been suffering in the absence of potable water in the area.
They said that due to intense cold weather conditions, the pipes have frozen fully due to which there is no piped water supply in the area.
They further added that tanker services have been deployed in the area but that isn’t enough to cater to the entire population as only 10 percent of the people in the area have access to tanker services.
An official said that water pipes in this Kandi belt has fully frozen due to which people are facing problems.
He said that the condition is such that if the pipes are cleared one day, they freeze again during the night.
He said that they have been working hard to restore water supply in the area but it will take some more time.
MLA Rajpora, Ghulam Mohiudin Mir, when contacted said that they have deployed tanker services in the area while the number of tankers is being increased as clearing frozen pipes will take some more time.
He said that all employees are on the job to restore water supply in the area.
