Abandoned tourist hut damaged in fire incident at Sopore
Fire also breaks out in Sopore Kandi forest belt
Sopore: An abandoned tourist hut in Ningli area of Sopore was gutted in a fire incident causing loss to property worth lakhs, officials said Wednesday.
They said that fire mysteriously broke out in the hut and engulfed the entire structure causing extensive damage to it.
Fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire with the help of locals and police. However, the structure could not be saved, the officials added.
They said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and added no one was injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, a massive fire broke out in the Kandi range forest area of Rampora Rajpora in North Kashmir’s Sopore on Wednesday evening while as the teams of forest department have been deputed to douse off the flames.
The fire which mysteriously erupted in compartment number 33 and 38 at Rampora Rajpora forests is spreading to more areas which may cause huge damage to the forest area, the officials said.
Meanwhile, an official from the forest department also confirmed the fire incident and said that the fire has engulfed a large area of forest compartment 33 and 38.
“A number of trees are feared to have suffered damage,” he added.
He said that soon after fire broke out in the compartments, the teams from Fire and Emergency department, Forest department including Forest Protection Force are on the job to douse the flames, adding that the cause of the fire will be ascertained after the flames are brought under control.
