Govt allocates Rs 14,810 Cr for rural infrastructure in JK

‘198 sub centres, 65 PHCs operational in J&K tribal areas’

Srinagar: The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned 3,437 roads totalling 20,801 km in length and 305 bridges under the PradhanMantri Gram SadakYojana (PMGSY) in Jammu and Kashmir, with a project value of Rs 14,810 crore till December 02 2024, the LokSabha was informed on Thursday.

Of these, 3,214 roads (19,324.72 km) and 217 bridges have been constructed at an expenditure of Rs 12,610 crore, including the UT share.

According to the Health Dynamics of India (Infrastructure & Human Resources) 2022-23, as of March 31, 2023, 198 Sub Centres, 65 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and 3 Community Health Centres (CHCs) are operational in the tribal areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

The government said that it remains committed to ensuring comprehensive development in rural areas, with a focus on improving infrastructure, healthcare and connectivity. “Through initiatives like the PradhanMantri Gram SadakYojana (PMGSY), the government aims to provide all-weather road connectivity, enhancing access to essential services,” it said.
