DDC Shopian appeals people to participate in ongoing Gram Sabhas
“Get involved in participatory planning for village development”
SHOPIAN: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar appealed to the public of the district to participate in the planning process of rural development being held for the next financial year, 2025-26.
The DDC is encouraging maximum participation in the Gram Sabhas, scheduled from December 2 to 7 in village panchayats across the district, convened in order to plan and finalise village level plans under MGNREGA and other schemes.
These Gram Sabhas aim to promote holistic rural development by involving the community in the planning process, DDC said.
The DDC instructed officials to prioritize community-specific works and formulate plans according to local needs and government norms in consultation with the public.
The Gram Sabhas will provide a platform for villagers to discuss and resolve local issues, ensuring that development projects cater to their specific requirements. By participating in these Gram Sabhas, community members can contribute to the planning and development of their areas.
