Illegal extraction of minerals: Police seizes two mechanized motor boats
Srinagar: Cracking a whip on illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police seized two mechanized motor boats in Awantipora, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that a police party of Police Station Awantipora seized two Mechanized motor boats being used by below mentioned person for illicit extraction of sand from river Jhelum.
They have been identified as Ashiq Ahmad Sofi son of Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, Ghulam Mohidin Wani son of Ghulam Qadir Wani, Umer Mohidin Wani son of Ghulam Mohidin Wani, Towseef Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Rasheed Shah, Gulzar Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Ramzan Dar, Bakhtiyar Ahmad Khan so of Abdul Qayoom Khan and Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat all residents of Larkipora Awantipora.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 165/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
