Tral residents demand construction of bridge over nallah Watal Ara near SDH
Pulwama:The residents of different areas of Tral sub division of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded construction of a bridge over Watal Ara Nallah near sub district hospital Tral.
The residents of the area said that they are facing lot of problems in the absence of bridge on Nallah Watal Ara near sub district hospital.
They said that every year makeshift arrangements are made and a temporary bridge is constructed but it gets washed way due to which people of different areas suffer and they have to travel huge distances to reach their destinations.
They said that the elderly people, women and children are facing lot of problems in absence of a concrete bridge.
Ghulam Rasool Lone, a local resident, said that they are facing lot of problems in the absence of bridge, especially in case of emergency situations.
He said that instead of making makeshift bridges, government must construct one concrete bridge so that the problem is addressed permanently.
Since last 25 years, every authority has been contacted but nothing has been done on ground, he said.
“Government has spent lakhs on different works everywhere but have failed in constructing a concrete bridge here ,”Aadil Ahmad, another local said.
He said that a makeshift bridge is being constructed but it is very risky to cross the nallah over it and it gets washed away frequently due to which people of around six villages have to take long routes to reach the hospital.
Locals said that they have knocked on the doors of every government authority to get their issue redressed but to no avail.
“We have high hopes on LG Manoj Sinha and DC Pulwama that they will look into it and direct concerned authorities to address the problem,: another resident said.
Meanwhile an official said that the government has recently approved the construction of 1×30 metre span steel bridge on Tral Pinglish road near SDH.
He said that bridge will be constructed at the cost of around Rs 2.5 crore and construction work is expected to start soon.
