Police arrests five drug peddlers in North Kashmir

Srinagar: Police arrested five drug peddlers in North Kashmir’s Handwara and Baramulla district and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that a team of police personnel at a checkpoint established at Ananwan Crossing Kralgund, apprehended three persons identified as Irshad Ahmad Gazi son of Ghulam Rasool Gazi resident of Kralpora Kralgund, Sajad Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Subhan Rather resident of Kralpora Kralgund and Syed Anwar Geelani son of Syed Sharief-ud-din Geelani resident of Tangwari Kunnel. During search, 105 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile, a Police party of Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Delina Ghat, intercepted a vehicle (i10) bearing registration number DL11CA-5236 with two persons on board.
They have been identified as Sajad Ahmad Magray son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Janbazpora and Imtiyaz Hussain Khandwah son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Bagh-e-Rehmat. During search, 25 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from their possession, the spokesman said.
All the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations, besides, the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, he added.
