Beneficiaries of RAS scheme seek resolution of their cases

Sopore: Scores of beneficiaries of Rehabilitation Assistance scheme (RAS) 2022, on Friday said that the government should resolve their compassionate appointment cases lying pending since the scheme was implemented by LG Manoj Sinha in September 2022.
The beneficiaries of the scheme alleged that if the government is trying hard to clear the cases falling under SRO-43, but at the same time they are ignoring the cases of (JKRAS).
They said that it was clearly mentioned in the order that the cases falling under (JKRAS) must be solved quarterly but the administration is not showing any interest to resolve the cases as per the order issued in 2022.
“We already belong to poor families and our financial situation has worsened since the deaths of our kins, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation,” Muizz Ahmad Shah, one of the beneficiary.
He said that the new government which has taken over recently should look into the matter keenly.
Notably, on September 07, 2022, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led-Union Territory government had notified JKRAS, 2022 for the dependent family members of its regular employees in place of “Compassionate Appointment Rules”
As per the amended Clause 2 of the (JKRAS) Scheme, it will “apply to the compassionate appointment or monetary compensation in favour of a person who is a family member of a government employee who dies in harness or retired on invalid pension. Provided that in case the death occurs due to militancy or terrorist action or due to law and order situation.
