Police arrests bootlegger in Shopian, illicit liquor recovered
Srinagar, Nov 1: In a significant action against illegal liquor trade, Police in Shopian arrested a person and seized illicit liquor from his possession, a police spokesman said Friday.
He said that a police party during a routine patrolling at Batapora Shopian, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag who tried to flee after noticing police party but was apprehended tactfully.
He has been identified as Bhashkar Shagosh Chavhan son of Shagosh Chavhan resident of Ramaji Nagar Sonala Road Borgaon District Akola Maharashtra A/P Tenant at Batpora Chowk Shopian.
During search, 26 bottles of illicit liquor were found in the bag. He has been arrested and shifted to police station, the spokesman said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 152/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Shopian and investigation has been initiated, he added.
