Pulwama: The residents of Kandizal area of Kakapora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday staged protest and demanded proper drinking water facilities in the area.
The residents of the Kandizal while staging protest alleged that they have been facing water shortage for the last 20 days as authorities have failed in supplying water in sufficient quantity.
Khursheed Ahmad, a local resident said people of Kandizal were getting supply of water for the last two decades but without any filtration.
He said that now their supply has been connected with a filtration plant but water remains available for just half an hour and that is not enough to cater to the whole village.
Shakeela Banoo, a local woman said that since last 20 years just few households who are close to the filtration plant have been getting water while rest of the population has to go to other places to fetch water.
She said that if authorities won’t be able to provide good supply of water on a daily basis then they must provide them water like they were giving them few weeks back.
The locals said that filtration plant along with the new scheme hasn’t been completed fully and till it is completed they must get water as they used to get previously.
They said that they have already taken up this issue with the concerned authorities in last 20 days but nothing has been done so far.
They have now sought attention of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama and Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Department Pulwama in this regard.
