Four years on, proposed marriage hall in Pulwama nowhere in sight
‘Land identified but work yet to started’
Pulwama: Even after an elapse of over four years, a proposed marriage hall in Pulwama town of south Kashmir is nowhere in sight.
The residents of Pulwama town said that after repeated requests to the government, a marriage hall was approved for the people of the town.
They said that since then around four years have passed but as of now, no construction work has been taken up.
Mudasir Ahmad, a local social activist said that as there is limited open space available in the towns the facilities of marriage halls are of vital importance.
He said that there are a majority of households who don’t have enough space to manage big functions.
Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, another local resident said that marriage halls in large numbers have been constructed in villages but due to unknown reasons Pulwama town has been ignored.
He said that poor people are unable to bear the expenses of establishing tents and pandals and it could have been easy for them if there would be a marriage hall in the town.
Locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but as of now nothing has been done.
They said that the government has identified the land four years back but due to unknown reasons construction work hasn’t been taken up.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
