Police arrests two drug peddlers in Kulgam
Srinagar: Police on Monday arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said here.
He said that a specific checkpoint at Khudwani Byepass was established by police and during checking, one suspicious person was intercepted and who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
After search, officers present were able to recover 750 grams of Cannabis like substance from his possession. He has been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Rahman Sheikh resident of Kawaki Bazar Qaimoh.
Moreover, a police party led by IC PP JT at a checkpoint established at Gulab Bagh intercepted a person carrying a nylon bag. During search, 3 Kgs of Poppy Straw, 03.50 grams of Brown Sugar, 1 digital weighing machine and a cash amount of Rs 29,750/- pertaining to proceeds of narcotic substance were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Nizamuddin Kunshee Son of Mohammad Abdullah Kunshee resident of Gulab Bagh was arrested on spot.
Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
