R&B Shopian constructs Bailey bridge to restore connectivity to Dachnoo village
Shopian: The Roads and Buildings department Shopian has constructed a Bailey bridge within days to restore connectivity to Dachnoo village in Hirpora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said.
A bridge connecting Dachnoo village of Hirpora with Mughal road collapsed due to heavy loads of dumpers that were carrying Mecdamization material for Dachnoo road around a week back.
The collapse of the bridge had halted the process of macadamization of the road that was started after a long time in the area.
The macadamization work was put on halt as this was the only connectivity to the village, the officials added.
Locals after collapse of the bridge had alleged that the bridge wasn’t constructed properly and concerned department along with the contractor are responsible for its collapse.
The locals said that they suffered a lot in the last few days as they remained disconnected with the rest of the world.
They had demanded that the government must constitute a committee to investigate the matter and take erring officials and contactor to task.
Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar had directed the R&B to construct a bailey bridge for restoration of the connectivity to the area.
R&B Shopian immediately started the process and installed the Bailey bridge within days and connectivity has been restored to the village, an official added.
He said that the locals thanked Deputy Commissioner Shopian and R&B Shopian for taking immediate steps for the restoration of the connectivity to the area.
They demanded macadamization work must be resumed at an earliest and work on the main bridge must be started immediately so that they won’t suffer.
