Pulwama: The all-important Pakherpora-Chaar-e-Sharief road is in a dilapidated condition, causing significant inconvenience to commuters and residents, locals alleged Wednesday.

They said that hundreds of tourists are visiting the famous tourist spot Yousmarg and the road is giving a tough time to these commuters.

They said that the road is full of potholes and people whether coming from Pulwama and Srinagar side are made to experience a bumpy ride.

Muzzafar Ahmad, a local social activist said that Yousmarg and Chaar-e-Shareef have a good tourist flow and the flow of tourists is increasing with each day but they are suffering due to the bad condition of the road.

He said that politicians along with officials have been visiting these areas but they have been neglecting the road continuously.

He said that the road must be macadamized at an earliest so that people visiting these areas won’t face any problems and locals can continue to earn their livelihood with the good flow of tourists.

Firdous Ahmad, a local resident said that the road is crucial for connecting various localities and supporting tourism but it has deteriorated due to neglect and lack of maintenance.

He said that large potholes, uneven surfaces, and drainage issues have made the journey hazardous, particularly during the rainy season.

He urged authorities to take immediate action to repair and upgrade the road to ensure safe and smooth travel for all.

The locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.

They have requested concerned authorities to look into the matter immediately and macadamize the road at an earliest.
