DGP sanctions 2.04 Cr Special Welfare Relief

Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) R.R. Swain sanctioned Rs. 2.04 crore as Special Welfare Relief for NoK of deceased police personnel and SPO’s who have passed away while in service. He has also sanctioned financial assistance of rupees one lakh for the marriage ceremony of a martyr’s daughter, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

He said that the special welfare relief of Rs. 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased Police personnel Inspr. Gurdeep Singh, HC (Tel) Davinder Singh, HC Ram Raj, SgCt Manoj Kumar, SgCt Farooq Ahmad, SgCt  Imtiyaz Ahmad, SgCt Gulzar Ahmad Wani, SgCt Imran Fayaz and Ct. Vishal Singh. They passed away due to illness while in service.

The spokesman said that Rs. one lakh each has been already paid to the families/ NoK deceased personnel for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned Unit/Wing. The amount is sanctioned out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund and is one among other various welfare measures of Police Headquarters.

The DGP has also sanctioned rupees 06 lakh in favour of the family/ legal heirs of deceased SPO Shri Deepak Sharma, who passed away while he was engaged with the Police department. Out of this amount, rupees 50 thousand was already paid to the family/NoK for performing the last rites as immediate relief. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund of SPOs.

Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for retired Police personnel and their families, the spokesman added.
