Kousarbal Tral residents demand potable water

Pulwama: The residents of Kousarbal area of Tral  in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district alleged that they have been facing shortage of water for a long time.

The residents of the Kousarbal said that the area has been facing a shortage of water since last one year but authorities have failed to present a permanent solution.

They said that their supply remains on for one day while it remains off for weeks together due to unknown reasons.

Shabir Ahmad, a local resident said that most people of the area are forced to consume contaminated water due to which they are facing various health issues.

He said that the entire village is already connected to a water supply scheme but due to unknown reasons, their water supply gets interrupted repeatedly.

Rukhsar Ahmad, another local resident said that they are going to other areas to fetch drinking water due to which the women folk is suffering.

He said that government on the one hand is claiming that every household is being provided potable water but on the other hand, areas who are connected with the scheme having been facing issues repeatedly.

The locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.

They said that they have received potable water for just around one month in last one year as the scheme develops faults repeatedly

They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, an official of the department said that the staff was busy with election duty and now the issue will be rectified.

He, however, rejected the reports that area hasn’t received water since long.
