Police arrests six gamblers in Ganderbal
Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal have arrested six gamblers and seized stake money and two vehicles, a police spokesman said Saturday.
Acting on reliable information regarding the gambling activities, a police party raided a Hotel at Kullan village after obtaining search warrant from Executive Magistrate.
During search of the hotel, six gamblers were arrested red handed while gambling in the room and stake money of Rs-98000 besides playing cards recovered from their possession was seized on the spot.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Amin Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat resident of Malshahibagh Ganderbal, Mohammad Abdullah Shah son of Abdul Kareem Shah resident of Pandach Nagbal, Abdul Rashid Ganaie son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganaie and Javaid Ahmad Najar son of Mushtaq Ahmad Najar both residents of Nagbal, Abdul Rashid Mir son of Mohammad Akbar Mir resident of Busarbugh Shuham and Mohammad Yusuf Parray son of Ghulam Mohammad Parray resident of Khalmullah Nagbal.
They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Moreover, two Vehicles bearing Registration No. JK16C-0432 (Alto) and JK01AU- 0179 (Eco Van) were also seized, the spokesman added.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Gund and investigation has been initiated, he said.
