Police arrested three drug peddlers in Shopian and Ganderbal

Srinagar: Police arrested three drug peddlers in Shopian and Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance and cash from their possession, a police spokesman said Saturday.

He said that in Shopian, a police party at a checkpoint established at Doublepora, intercepted a vehicle (Tata ACE Gold) bearing registration No. JK13H-0342. During search, heroin like contraband substance weighing about 05 grams and cash amount of Rs.30000 were recovered from the possession of two persons boarding the vehicle.

They have been identified as Umar Noor Mohammad son of Noor Mohammad Bhat and Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohd Bhat, both residents of Wuyan Pampore. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Zainapora where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 55/2024 under sections of law was registered in Police Station Zainapora and investigation was going on, the spokesman added.

In Ganderbal, a police party at a checkpoint established at Warpahoo Shuhama link road intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK01AQ-3910 driven by Abdul Qayoom Wani son of Ali Mohammad Wani resident of Yangoora Ganderbal. During checking of the vehicle, contraband charas powder like substance weighing 3.476 Kgs was recovered. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. In this regard, Case FIR No. 157/2024, under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation taken up, the spokesman added.
