Body of man retrieved from river Jhelum in Sopore

Sopore: The dead body of a man who had jumped in river Jhelum five days back was retrieved from the river near Jamia bridge Sopore on Friday, police said.

An official said that the man identified as Mohammed Amin Ahanger of Sangrampora Sopore, who jumped into the river Jhelum was retrieved after five days near Khushal Matoo locality here in Sopore.

He said that as soon as he jumped into river Jhelum on Eid day, a rescue operation was launched by SDRF, Police and locals.

The body of Ahanger, who was a Auto driver by profession, was retrieved on Friday afternoon, he added.

Later the body has been handed over to the family after completing all the legal and medical formalities, the official said.
