Waltangoo Kulgam residents demand availability of portable water

Kulgam: The residents of Waltangoo Nard area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district have demanded better water supply facilities in the area.

The residents of the area said that they have been suffering for the last one month as the department has failed in providing them regular water supply.

Locals said that the area has been without drinking water facilities for the last one month due to which people of the area are facing huge problems.

Sayar Ahmad, a local resident said that they are being deprived of water facilities and repeated requests to the government aren’t bearing any fruits.

He said that the area is facing an acute shortage of potable water for the last one month but repeated pleas to the concerned authorities are falling on deaf ears.

Reyaz Ahmad, another local said that they have visited the offices of concerned authorities several times but except assurances nothing is being done.

He said that in absence of proper drinking water facilities, they are forced to consume contaminated water that may lead to break out of water borne diseases.

The locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.

They requested concerned authorities to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard.

Meanwhile, the concerned AEE Jal Shakti Department, Mohammad Rafiq assured that the area will get potable water supply soon.
