Dengue prevention efforts necessary

Dear Sir,
Before the onset of the high transmission monsoon and post-monsoon seasons, the leadership of the Government Health Services in Karnataka must devise a strategy and closely monitor the dengue situation in vulnerable hotspots across the state.
Additionally, government teams need to visit locations where cases are reported, inspect for potential breeding sites, and raise awareness among residents about dengue prevention measures.
The unit responsible for the National Vector-borne Disease Control Programme should ensure that crucial prevention guidelines are rigorously followed at the household level to effectively eliminate dengue.
Local communities must be urged to join the fight against dengue by monitoring and eliminating stagnant water in courtyards and discarded items. Over the past two to three years, Karnataka has seen a steady increase in dengue cases, resulting in a deaths from the disease.
