Saimoh Tral residents demand construction of bridge over Nallah Watal Ara
Pulwama: The residents of Saimoh area in Tral sub division of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded construction of a bridge over Watal Ara Nallah to get connected with Hardumir Tral.
The residents of Saimoh area said that they are facing a lot of problems in absence of a bridge between Saimoh and Hardumir.
They said that elderly people, women and school going children are facing lot of problems in absence of the bridge as they have to commute long distances to reach their destinations.
They said that makeshift bridge over the Nallah can prove fatal anytime as it can collapse anytime.
Nasir Ahmad, a local resident, said that they are facing lot of problems in absence of the bridge, especially during emergency situations.
He said that around 25 years back the construction work on bridge was started, however, after construction of base pillars on both sides, the work was put on halt.
Since last 25 years, every authority has been contacted but nothing has been done on ground, he added.
“Government has spent lakhs on different works everywhere but has failed in constructing a concrete bridge here,”Mohammad Altaf, another local said.
He said that a makeshift bridge has been constructed but it is very risk to cross the nallah over it and it gets damaged every year.
The locals said that they have knocked on the doors of every government authority to get their issue redressed but to no avail.
Despite voting, taking part in every government programme, the repeated assurances provided to the locals have proved hoax on ground, they said.
“We have high hopes on LG Manoj Sinha and DC Pulwama that they will look into it and direct the concerned authorities to restart the work on bridge and complete it,” they said.
