Police arrests drug peddler in Shopian
Srinagar: Police arrested a drug peddler in Shopian and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said Friday.
He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Hillow crossing, intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
During search, 265 grams of contraband Brown sugar like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Javaid Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Arwani Bijbehara. He was shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 19/2024 under sections of law was registered in Police Station Imamsahib and investigation was taken up, he added.
