Pulwama: The residents of Larow Jageer area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are demanding proper renovation of the sports stadium in the area.

The athletes from the area said that the authorities claim that they have spend around 13 lakhs on the stadium but on ground it seems funds haven’t been utilised properly.

They said the ground was in good condition before and government decided to renovate it but instead of witnessing any upgrade its condition has deteriorated.

Manzoor Ahmad Shah, a local resident said that they are thankful to the government for providing them a ground there but they need to take a little more interest in making it fit for players and athletes.

He said that the leveling hasn’t been done properly due to which they are unable to play at the site.

Shakeel Yousuf, another local said that the government should have focused on making the stadium feasible for playing but its condition has gone worse as the filing wasn’t done properly and no effort was put to level it.

He said that had funds been properly used on it, theĀ  stadium would have been turned a model stadium.

Athletes said that the valley is facing the nuisance of drug addiction which is due to lack of recreational opportunities given to our youth and development of such grounds is very important to keep them away from drugs.

They said that they have to visit other places for practice as they are unable to practice here due to the dilapidated condition of the ground now.

The players said that the government must investigate the matter by constituting a committee in this regard.

They said that the government must give proper attention towards the stadium so that players can feel some relief.
