Police arrest two drug peddlers in Handwara
Srinagar: Police arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that a police party intercepted a vehicle (Tata sumo) bearing Reg No. JK09-4301 at Khanpora Crossing with two persons on board. They have been identified as Irshad Ahmad lone (Driver) son of Abdl Gani lone resident of Taratpura and Shabir Ahmad Marazi son of Ghlam Rasool Marazi resident of Summer Bug Lasjan Srinagar.
During search of the vehicle, about 106 grams of charas like contraband substance was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman added.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and investigation has been initiated, he said.
