Stray dogs attack, injure five persons in Pathan Pulwama
Pulwama: At least five persons were injured after attacked by stray dogs in Pathan area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, locals alleged Tuesday.
The residents of the area said that stray dog attacks have become common in the area and several people were injured in last few months.
They said that in last 24 hours five persons were injured after they were attacked by stray dogs.
Sakeena Jabeen, a local social activist said that surge in stray dog attacks in the area has become a cause of grave concern for inhabitants and they fear in roaming freely especially during evening and morning hours.
She said that every time packs of dogs can be seen on roads causing inconvenience to the general public mainly school going children.
She further added that recent incident has forced parents to confine movement of their children to their compounds.
Yasir Ahmad, another local said that children in the area are unable to move freely due to the fear of the dogs and elders have to accompany children while they travel to school.
He said that the number of stray dogs has been rising with each passing day thereby escalating the problems for public
Locals said that increasing numbers of these stray dogs are posing a grave threat to the life of people and the movement of people, especially children, elders and women has become difficult during morning and evening hours.
They said that the issue of stray dog attacks and their rising number was brought to the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
They requested higher ups especially Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to look into the matter and direct concerned authorities to act immediately take action so that locals won’t suffer anymore.
