Police arrests two drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police arrested two drug peddlers in Sopore and Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that in Sopore, a police party at a checkpoint at Adipora Sopore, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05H-6710 driven by Farooq Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Adipora Sopore. During the search of the said vehicle, about 2 kilograms of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Sopore where he remains in custody.
In Baramulla, a police party intercepted a person identified as Kabir Ali Manhas son of Shafayat Ali Manhas resident of Paranpeelan Baramulla. During search, 240 grams of contraband Charas like substances was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Uri where he remains in custody.
Subsequently, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
