Kanigam Pulwama residents rue frequent snags in electric transformer
Pulwama: The residents of Kanigam area of Rajpora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district allege frequent snags in the electric transformer placed in their locality.
The residents of the area are up in arms against the PDD saying that they have failed in finding a permanent solution to this problem.
Locals said the existing transformer has developed technical snag at least seven times in this winter due to heavy load.
They alleged that that the 100 KVA transformer got sanctioned for the village last year but only 63 KVA was installed and now due to the heavy load, the transformer has been developing snags frequently.
Aabid Ahmad, a local said that the government increases electricity fee as per their will but they have failed to upgrade the infrastructure as the transformer develops technical snag frequently.
He said that despite people paying bills on time authorities fail in repairing the transformer on time.
He said that the monthly tariff has been increased from 900 to 1300 in last few months but authorities have failed in upgrading infrastructure.
The locals said that if the old transformer is developing technical snag frequently, they must install level 2 transformer here or 100 KVA transformer so the sufferings of the people end.
“We have been living under darkness and students are suffering the most as they have to prepare for different examinations,” they said.
They said that instead of finding a solution, the PDD authorities have been raiding houses of those who are raising voice over the issue.
They said that they have been raising this issue in front of concerned higher officials but to no avail.
Meanwhile, an official of the concerned department said that the transformer has already been repaired and supply has been restored.
