Police arrests four gamblers in Ganderbal

Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal arrested four gamblers and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession, a police spokesman said Friday.

He said that acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities in the orchards of village Serch Bala, a police party raided the specific spot and apprehended four gamblers and recovered stake money of ₹6500/- and playing cards from their possession.

They have been identified as Javid Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Qadir Sheikh and Mehraj Ud Din Shoda son of Ghulam Mohammad Shoda both residents of Badergund, Arbaz Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad Dar and Mehraj Din Bhat son of Mohammad Amin Bhat both residents of Shahpora. They have been shifted to PS where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 32/2024, under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Ganderbal and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
