Pulwama: The residents of the Nowdal area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded development of the local playground.

In order  to enhance recreational opportunities for children, the residents urged local authorities to prioritize the creation of a safe and vibrant space for play.

They said that a well-designed playground not only fosters physical activity but also promotes social interaction and community cohesion.

Currently, the playground is lying in dilapidated condition despite spending around seven lakh for its development, they said, adding that ground hasn’t been leveled well besides that the plantations in the ground are also acting as a hindrance.

Naseer Ahmad, a local player said that due to the uneven surface and presence of trees in the ground, players often get injuries.

He said that RDD is claiming that they have spent seven lakh rupees for the development of ground so far but on ground much more to be done.

“We believe that investing in a playground is an investment in the future of our community. It’s not just about swings and slides; it’s about creating a space where kids can learn, grow, and build lasting friendships,” said Shakeel Ahmad another local resident.

Locals said that they have brought this issue in notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard.

Meanwhile, an official of the RDD department said that development work has already been taken up and whatever more will be required, will be taken up on priority.
