Police arrests six gamblers in Baramulla
Srinagar: Police in Baramulla arrested six gamblers and seized stake money from their possession, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that acting on specific information about gambling activities in a hotel at Gulmarg, a police party of Police Station Gulmarg raided the specific site and arrested six gamblers on the spot.
They have been identified as Abdul Majeed son of Mohammad Ramzan, Ishtiyaq Mohammad son of Abdul Ahad, Mohammad Yousuf son of Abdul Khaliq, Abdul Rashid son of Mohammad Abdullah, Nissar Ahmad son of Abdul Gani and Barkat Ali son of Mohammad Akbar, all residents of Sopore.
Police have seized stake money of ₹76,730/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Gulmarg and investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
