Gulmarg, other areas experience fresh snowfall

Plains receive light rains as MeT predicts improvement in weather
Srinagar: Several higher reaches of Kashmir Valley including the world famous ski-resort, Gulmarg experienced fresh snowfall, while plains received rains on Thursday, bringing down the mercury in Jammu & Kashmir.
Gulmarg, the higher reaches of Sonamarg, Gurez and other parts of the Valley received fresh snowfall today, MeT officials said.
The plains across Kashmir including the summer capital of Jammu received light rainfall today, which has resulted in the dip in mercury.
Director Meteorological department (MeT) Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that generally cloudy weather with possibility of light rain and snow over isolated higher reaches is expected tonight.
However, he said that the weather conditions will improve from tomorrow as there is no significant weather activity till 10th November.
Director MeT said that mainly dry weather is expected from November 03 to November 06 while fairly to generally cloudy weather with light snow over isolated higher reaches are expected from November 07 and 08.
He added that on November 09 and 10, the weather would remain generally cloudy while light rain and snowfall would occur over a few higher reaches during the period.
Overall, there is no significant weather activity till 10th November, he said.
Asked about the dip in the temperature, he said there would be change in the temperature in coming days. (KNO)
