Pulwama villages demand public transport facility

Pulwama: The residents of different villages in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district demanded public transport facility in their respective areas.
Residents of Jandwal, Saidpora, Bandzoo and its adjacent areas said that they have to face immense inconveniences in absence of adequate transport facilities in their area.
They said that public transport is available for them from Bandzoo only that is almost four kilometers far from Saidapora.
They said these villages are located just few kilometers from district headquarters but they are suffering due to non availability to public transport in the area.
Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, a local resident said that people have to travel by foot for around four kilometres from Saidapora to Bandzoo to reach district headquarters that is just two kilometres from Bandzoo.
He said that our children are forced to go by foot for two three kilometers to schools in absence of public transport.
Sameer Ahmad, a student said that it takes him around one hour to reach college that is just is seven kilometres from his village.
“The journey I have to undertake on foot can be covered in just 15 minutes if transport facilities will be available,” he added.
He said that there is need to start a sumo services through these villages for the convenience of patients and students.
Locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that people can heave a sigh of relief.
