Police freezes amount of Rs 1.6 lacs from drug smuggler

Srinagar: In a significant move to combat the menace of drug trafficking and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police freezed and seized amount of Rs. 1.6 lacs of a drug Smuggler in Baramulla, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

He said that police freezed and seized cash to the tune of Rs. 1.6 lacs belonging to drug smuggler identified as Mansoor Ahmad Wani @Suriya son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Kharpora Kunzer after obtaining legal sanction from competent authorities. The said amount was linked to case FIR No. 44/2023 under section 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Kunzer. The investigation proved that the said movable property in form of cash was raised, used for illicit trafficking by the said drug smuggler.

Pertinently, police has attached properties worth 2.27 crores lacs of drug smugglers which includes 3 houses, 3 vehicles and cash to the tune of Rs.1.12 crores in Pattan, Kreeri, Kunzer, Nambla and Kamalkote during the current year

Moreover, SAFEM (FOP) A & NDPSA, New Delhi confirmed attachment of property (Illegal acquired property by drug smugglers) orders of Baramulla Police at in which house and vehicle was attached across the district, the spokesman added.

He aid that police also booked the most wanted and notorious drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from competent authority.

The most wanted and notorious drug smuggler identified as Hilal Ahmad Sofi @Sheera son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Bazaar Mohalla Pattan has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. The booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu, the spokesman added.
