Police books five notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act
Srinagar: Police in Baramulla booked five notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, a police spokesman said Friday.
The five accused drug smugglers identified as Gulzar Ahmad Ganai of Chijhama Rafiabad, Gh Mohi-u-din Dar of Ladoora Rafiabad, Waheed Sultan Ganai @Raj Don of Shirpora Pattan, Ajaz Ahmad Gojri @Ajaz Mughal of Malpora Pattan and Atiqullah Lone of Tujjar Sharif Sopore have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu.
Pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against the said drug smugglers and they were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Rafiabad, Ladoora, Chakloo, Binner, Janbazpora, Shirpora Pattan, Malpora Pattan and other areas of district Baramulla. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
Meanwhile, police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from them in Baramulla.
A Police party at a checkpoint established at Palhallan Morh, arrested a drug peddler identified as Mudasir Ahmad Wani son of Manzoor Ahmad Wani resident of Raipora Palhallan. During search, officers were able to recover 145 grams of Charas from his possession, the spokesman added.
Similarly, a Police party at a checkpoint established at Zandfaran Sheeri intercepted a suspicious person who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Waseem Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Majeed Sheikh resident of Heewan. During search, 56 capsules of Spasmo-Proxyvon were recovered from his possession.
Both the drug peddlers have been shifted to police stations and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, he added.
