Police arrests four drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that in Baramulla, a police party at a checkpoint established at Gantmulla Balla near Iqbal Resorts intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 26 grams of Charas like substance and 56 SpasmoProxyvon capsules were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Yatoo son of Mohammad Sultan Yatoo resident of Heewan. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Similarly, officers arrested one drug smuggler at a checkpoint established near Petrol pump at Kachwa Chandoosa alongwith 145 grams of Charas like substance. He has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Rather son of Gh Nabi Rather resident of Wagoora. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In Budgam, a police party at a checkpoint established at Drigam intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01F-6877 with two persons on board. During search of the said vehicle, 490 grams of Charas like substance was recovered. They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Choupan @Shabir Dembali son of Ghulam Ahmad Choupan resident of Dembal Chadoora and Irshad Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Ayoub Rather resident of Dadompora Chadoora. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
