Anantnag: Even after the passing of around four decades, a government school in Bijbehara education zone of Anantnag district continues to function from a private building.

Govt primary School Natipora Sangam Anantnag established in 80’s continues to function from a private building as neither locals nor the government has taken any step for construction of a building for the school.

At present around three dozen students are studying in the School but being without a building the school fails to attract fresh enrolment.

Parents of the students studying in the school said that government shifted the school from one private building to another building but have failed to construct its own building.

They said that the building in which the students are studying presently is also in dilapidated condition and students as well as teachers are facing huge inconvenience.

They further added that teachers are working hard to give them quality education but due to dilapidated condition of the building, they are not able to work efficiently.

Even state land is available in our village but government has failed to take steps to construct a building for the school, they said.

Last year even government started demarcation process but it was left midway due to unknown reasons, they added.

They said that despite bringing it in notice of higher ups several times no concrete steps were taken on ground.

The locals once again requested higher ups to look into the matter and construct a building for the school with other facilities like play ground as well.

Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer Anantnag, Kamal Kishore said that he will look into the matter and all possible steps for the construction of a school building will be taken.
