Chitragam-Drawini road in shambles, allege locals
Demand immediate repairs, macadamisation
Shopian: The residents of Chitragam, Bandpawa, Thokerpora, Gund Darvesh, Drawini and its adjacent areas are up in arms against the Road and Building department for failing to repair Chitragam-Drawini road in Chitragam tehsil of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Locals said that the road was macadamised two years back but it developed cracks at most of the places and is lying in shambles now.
The road is proving troublesome due to potholes and making it difficult to commute on the road, they said.
Due to bad condition of the road, no services are plying through the road due to which residents of the area are facing huge problems, they said.
Soon after the road was macadamised it developed cracks and the issue was brought into the notice of higher ups, but no steps were taken in this regard, they alleged.
Locals once again requested the concerned authorities and the district administration to look into the matter and repair the road immediately so that locals may heave a sigh of relief.
A senior official in the R&B department said that department will look into it and macadamise the damaged parts this year.
