Police arrests five drug peddlers

Srinagar: Police arrested five drug peddlers in various instances and recovered contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Monday.

He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Wanigam Kreeri arrested two drug peddlers identified as Mohammad Shafi Hajam son of Nazir Ahmad Hajam and Shabir Ahmad Khan son of Samunder Khan, both residents of Wanigam Kreeri. During search, 18 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, a police party of Police Post Delina at a checkpoint established at Janbazpora Baramulla arrested a drug peddler identified as Zubair Ahmad Shah son of Ali Mohammad Shah resident of Janbazpora. During search, 81 tablets of SpasmoProxyvon were recovered from his possession.

Moreover, in Kulgam, a police party of Police Station Devsar at a checkpoint established at Tankipora arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohammad Ashraf Malik resident of Hablishi. During search, 80 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession, the spokesman said.

Similarly, in Awantipora, a police party of PP Reshipora headed by IC PP Reshipora at a checkpoint established at Panzgam Oudipora Crossing, arrested a drug peddler identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Wagay son of Ghulam Ahmad Wagay resident of Oudipora Panzgam Awantipora. During search, 13.5 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession.

All the arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to respective police stations and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigation has been taken up, he said.
